PM Narendra Modi Highlights Care Economy, Telemedicine as Future Job Drivers in Healthcare

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the care economy and telemedicine will play a crucial role in creating future employment opportunities in the healthcare sector, emphasizing that technology-driven health services are transforming the way medical care is delivered in India.

Addressing a gathering on healthcare and workforce development, the Prime Minister noted that the growing demand for healthcare services has opened up vast opportunities in areas such as elderly care, home-based healthcare services, nursing, and digital medical consultation. He said that the care economy — which includes services like patient care, rehabilitation, elderly support, and childcare — is becoming a major source of employment worldwide.

Highlighting the importance of technology in healthcare, Modi said telemedicine is bridging the gap between doctors and patients, especially in rural and remote areas where access to quality medical facilities has traditionally been limited. Through digital platforms, patients can now consult doctors without travelling long distances, improving both accessibility and efficiency in healthcare delivery.

The Prime Minister also pointed out that the rapid expansion of digital health infrastructure in India has strengthened the country’s healthcare system. Initiatives launched by the Government of India are helping to integrate technology with healthcare services, enabling better medical access and creating new career opportunities for young professionals.

Modi stressed that India’s young workforce has immense potential to benefit from emerging healthcare sectors. He encouraged educational institutions and skill development centers to train students in modern healthcare technologies, nursing services, and digital health management.

He further stated that strengthening the healthcare workforce is essential for building a healthier nation. By focusing on innovation, digital platforms, and skill development, India can not only improve healthcare access but also generate large-scale employment in the years ahead.
