Jogipet Doctors Suspended Following Health Minister’s Order Over Absenteeism

Health Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha Orders Suspension of Absentee Doctors at Jogipet Government Hospital

Sangareddy: Telangana Health Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha has directed the suspension of several doctors who were found absent during a surprise inspection at the government hospital in Jogipet, the headquarters of his constituency.

The minister conducted the unannounced visit on Monday evening to assess the hospital’s functioning, including the availability of medical staff, laboratory services, medicines, and overall facility standards. During the inspection, he discovered that multiple doctors were not present on duty.

District Collector P. Pravinya and Health Department officials had previously identified repeated instances of absenteeism at the hospital and issued notices to the concerned doctors. Despite these warnings, there was reportedly no improvement in attendance.

After learning that the issue persisted, the minister carried out another surprise inspection and again found doctors absent. Taking serious note of the situation, he spoke with the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare over the phone and ordered immediate suspension of the doctors who failed to report for duty.

In addition to reviewing staff attendance, the minister examined the functioning of the hospital laboratory and sought details about the number of diagnostic tests being conducted. He also reviewed the availability of medicines, inquired about shortages, and assessed the adequacy of infrastructure and other facilities.

During his visit, the minister interacted with hospital staff and patients to gather firsthand feedback on services and treatment quality. The action signals a stricter stance by the Health Department on staff accountability and service standards in government healthcare facilities.
